Golden Visa Renewals Move Online: Key Update for Investors in the Renewal Stage

17 March, 2026

AIMA has introduced an important update to the Golden Visa residence permit renewal process, transitioning this stage to a digital system through a dedicated online portal.

This development represents a procedural change specifically applicable to applicants currently in the renewal stage of their Golden Visa process. It does not affect initial applications or other immigration pathways.

Scope of Application

The new digital renewal system is currently available for residence permits expiring up to 30 June 2026.

As such, this update concerns investors and family members who are preparing to renew their existing residence permits within this period. Each case will continue to be assessed individually, depending on its procedural status.

Procedural Framework

Under the new system, key elements of the renewal process — including submission of documentation and payment of government fees — are being centralized within the online portal.

Depending on the status of each application:

  • Applicants who have already been notified to attend biometric appointments should continue to do so, unless otherwise instructed by AIMA
  • In other cases, the process will proceed through digital submission and payment
  • Applications that have not yet reached the appointment stage are expected to follow a fully online renewal pathway

IAS Coordination and Support

The introduction of a digital platform does not alter the level of legal and procedural support provided.

IAS will continue to manage the renewal process on behalf of its clients, including:

  • Registration and submission through the online portal
  • Review and coordination of required documentation
  • Monitoring of deadlines and procedural requirements
  • Ongoing liaison with the competent authorities

Where client input is required, our team will provide clear and case-specific guidance.

Ongoing Developments

As with any newly implemented system, certain technical and procedural aspects — particularly in relation to dependent applications — remain under clarification.

IAS is actively following these developments and remains in direct contact with AIMA to ensure that all renewals are handled accurately and without disruption.

Conclusion

Clients currently in the renewal stage will be contacted directly with tailored instructions relevant to their case.

IAS remains fully engaged throughout the process, ensuring continuity, compliance, and proper handling of all renewal procedures.
