Portugal Golden Visa: AIMA Begins Scheduling Biometrics Appointments

26 February, 2025

Following the recent updates from AIMA (Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo), the scheduling of biometrics appointments for Portugal’s Golden Visa applicants has now commenced. This marks a significant development for investors and applicants awaiting progress on their residency applications.

AIMA previously indicated its commitment to resuming the Golden Visa process, with an emphasis on streamlining procedures and reducing the backlog of applications. The latest update confirms that biometric data collection—an essential step for residence permit issuance—is now being scheduled, allowing applicants to move forward with their processes. With the biometrics phase now in motion, investors who have been waiting for their appointments can expect to receive notifications from AIMA regarding their scheduling.

Investors who have not yet provided us with their updated documents should do so as soon as possible, since the recent evidence showing AIMA’s commitment to end the pending backlog.

From IAS's side, we will closely monitor this situation and inform our clients as soon as we receive their biometric appointments.
