AIMA, the Portuguese Immigration Authorities, has restructured the steps to improve efficiency. Notifications for biometric appointments will begin on January 15, 2025, with appointments occurring 30 to 90 days afterward and held at locations across Portugal, including the islands.

Residency cards will be issued within 90 days of biometric appointments, with fees collected at the time. To avoid delays, applicants are urged to act promptly and submit necessary documents within the recommended six-month timeframe.

These changes primarily impact investors whose applications are pending biometric appointments. Investors with applications that have already been formalized or completed remain unaffected by this update.
