12 July, 2022

It was published today by the Portuguese Government a new diploma that allows the immigrant drivers, with a valid driver’s license, from the countries within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to drive in Portugal without need of an exchange or recognition of that tittle.

That way, from August 01st 2022 on, the immigrant drivers from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor, and also nationals from Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Costa Rica, United States of America, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland and Turkey, can drive in Portuguese territory with their own country driver’s license.

That permission is valid until the driver’s license from the country of origin expires.
